Why not take your 18” doll and head out to the ball park to enjoy America’s pastime! Dress her in something red, white and blue (DRDM-RB or DRRPS-NV) for Independence Day! There is only another week before the All Star break and both leagues are in full swing! If you really want to see great baseball, check out a double A or triple A game. Close to me are 3 different stadiums to watch the farm teams to our local National League team. The stadiums are smaller so you can get closer to the players and all of the action on the field. Tickets are readily available and less expensive. Oftentimes, a player on your home town team is doing a “rehab” stint with one of these teams, which makes the game all the more exciting. Since this is also July 4th weekend, you might also get a fireworks display at the end of the game. So grab your peanuts, popcorn and crackerjack and head off to the ol’ ball game!

Fireworks and picnics are customary activities for the 4th of July holiday. If you are planning a barbecue or picnic, here is an easy, quick craft to help get you in the mood to celebrate the “Red, White & Blue. Try making this napkin ring to hold your utensils.
Tape or glue
White poster board or heavy paper
Wrapped red/white mint candies
Cut a strip of poster board or heavy paper about 1 inch wide and 7 inched long. (You can vary the width to accommodate larger candy! Tape or glue the strip into a circle. Secure the ends.
Using a piece of double sided tape, attach a row of wrapped mint candies (please keep them in their wrappers) to the ring.
Stuff the ring with a blue napkin and one set of utensils.
Add a few other holiday touches…red plates or a table cloth with stars and you will have yourself a super festive picnic.

Summer is officially here and honestly, camping is one of those wonderful summertime memories I have from my childhood. I did the scout camping for many years, but the greatest memories I have are back yard camping with my family. We didn’t have to go far, or worry about facilities, but it always felt like the real deal to me. We would pitch out tent at the very limits of our yard and since we backed up to a wooded area, it really felt like we were in the wilderness. Sleeping bags, flashlights, dolls, toys, books and snacks were gathered and arranged in the tent in anticipation of sundown. As a family, we would play flashlight tag and hide and seek as the sun began to set. Catching lightning bugs was also a tradition and we would keep them in our bug jugs to help add atmosphere in our tent! These are wonderful memories that I have and thought that before the summer temperatures get too unbearable, why not create some backyard memories with your family. If you are taking your American doll along, My Doll’s Life has a snuggly sleeping bag, MASB that would keep your doll cozy Continue Reading →
Since yesterday was the official first day of summer, and I am sure that you and your American doll have lots of wonderful plans, why not start off by making a calendar so that you can clearly see where you need to be and when. I am not talking high tech, but a personalized planner that reflects who you are and expresses your creativity. If you want a larger than live planner, try using a poster board. Blank calendars are easily printed off your computer if notebook size is more to your liking. Either way, you might want to make a page for each month. Now, my kids always loved a trip to a local dollar store for assorted stickers, markers, labels, and anything else they wanted to use to make their calendars special for them. Once you have all the craft accessories that you will need, begin to fill in scheduled appointments, camp dates, play dates, sleepovers, family outings, and vacations! . Use special stickers or drawings to identify special outings….like an ice cream cone for a family outing for water ice. I am sure that you will have lots of other activities fill your summer days. If you Continue Reading →
