April 10th celebrates the founding of the ASPCA® by philanthropist and diplomat, Henry Bergh. Using the model of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which he observed during a diplomatic trip to England, he incorporated the American Society for The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or ASPCA by a special act of the New York State legislature in 1866. The mission of the ASPCA, as stated by Henry Bergh, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” Not only was the ASPCA the first humane society formed in North America, today, but today, it is one of the largest humane societies in the world. Sophia’s® is a proud supporter of the ASPCA’s mission having designed several 18″ doll outfits and 18 inch doll accessories bearing their logo. DRAPS-PS and DRAAS-DS are two 18″ doll outfits in our current ASPCA collection that fit American Girl dolls.
